Flowers for Hope V5 01 is part of Nolan’s ongoing floral series that reflects how people use flowers to mark events in their lives. From tragedy to celebration, Nolan’s floral works use poetic mark-making and gestural brush strokes to convey the lived experiences the flowers symbolise. Flowers for Hope V5 01 was also used in a collaboration with photographer Christopher Sherman. Nolan created the paintings that were then used as backdrops for Sherman to photograph models in front of. Flowers for Hope V5 01 brings a high impact use of colour and almost erotic tone to Nolan’s Flowers for Hope series.

Canadian-born International Painter, Nigel Nolan, presents an expressive and painterly aesthetic in his project-based portfolio. His contemporary paintings, book projects, installations and experimental videos showcase a masterful use of color, line, and mark-making to produce works that engage with and champion the Queer Community.
